You know those retro toys that make really pretty circles into art, Spirographs? You use templates and can vary the size and color and angles to make your own unique burst of intersecting lines? Well if you don’t Google it. Hang with me here, I always circle it around. ha
Kirsten and Drew’s engagement photos are a long time coming and I’m breaking in on my seniors because I need to share. I know on the old blog I talked incessantly about watching people’s kids grow and so on and so forth. But this is truly the case for Kirsten, my niece. She will be marrying her love in October and I get to document it.
I remember the first time I saw her, Brad my husband were newly dating and we took her to get ice cream cone from McDonald’s when she was like three. And while I don’t remember what she said I do remember her in the backseat being funny. She was a character! I remember thinking this guy has such a cute niece and was so good with her he must be a good one. She was a flower girl in our wedding, I took her pictures at home (my model) when I first started Snap and she wrote the funniest stories about our kids as she and they grew (we have them I’m going to bring them to the wedding) Cinder Stella was a household favorite. It wasn’t that long ago we took her senior pictures. We have celebrated many birthdays and holidays back on Strawberry Hill and in Lawrence and now in KCMO. I’ve watched her grow into a stunning woman who has met her match Drew and she will become a fantastic teacher. She just graduated from KU School of education and this whole online school has got nothing on her.
Drew, who I’m still getting to know, reminds me of the Baska boys in his dry sense of humor. As long as he can drink a couple of beers and make fun of this crazy clan he is a winner in my book. I found myself thinking again, he is so good with her–he must be a good one. It’s like a full circle of a life coming to completion but also just starting. There will be more circles until you have a spirograph or -a beautiful intersection of lines- that make a life. Your Cinder Kirsten story is coming to real life, (minus the evil stepmother and cleaning bit). And although the world is a little topsy turvy right now, it will make your spirograph truly unique. We had a good time last Fall in the river city of Kansas where the sun was not the only thing glowing.
Here she is at my wedding before the big show…with cousins. Look at that look–?! so cute, you will see it again…
I can’t help it, I’m sorry for the overflow, I wanted to include this film silhouette as well as the digital as it shows the difference-both gorgeous but the film is subtle and the digital is ka-pow! and remember in Gage’s blog when I said all Baska’s are cute, well here is another example of that–enough said.
Can’t wait to celebrate this Fall with you two. Love will prevail through any pandemic. love always love
