I feel like I’ve been writing a bit Pollyanna”ish” lately. I think it is really important to stay positive during challenging times but I also am a realist. Today I want to talk about anyone and everyone that does not like having photos done. I get it, it is a lot of attention and I hear all the time, “I am not photogenic, I am uncomfortable around the camera. or “How many photos do you take??” Not to categorize but this is especially prevalent in the male gender.
I want this to be about you and your preferences but I also want it to be about the next generation, the generation after that and so on. It is documenting the here and now and I, of course, want you to like them but I want them to be memorable for you and your history. Secondly, as much as I laugh saying this (and it’s not 100% true all the time) but you will never look as good as you do now. We all age, we all gain/lose weight. I tell people all the time, you may look at these photos in a week and say “ouch–I didn’t know I looked like this” but you wait a year and you will be like “Damn, I look good.” or -Why did I think I was too fat/ too thin, or that my chin is too big, or my eyes too squinty? I find this to be true for almost every age, not just seniors. Lastly, even for the skeptics, it’s not like you are sitting on a box and your head is positioned just so anymore. You are out and about or moving quickly (even if in a studio) and I think I’m fun. I AM FUN. Even if you don’t find me funny I usually find that funny and well at least you won’t be bored-watching someone who thinks she is funny and is not. ha!
Kyle is going to the University of South Carolina to study sports and entertainment. He sees himself on a yacht off the SC coast in 5 years. (I might be visiting you, Kyle) He picked Loose Park because he liked the pond and was too lazy to think of something else (his words ; 0) And he is enjoying watching tv in quarantine.
Kyle you are nothing if not honest (and funny) and I like to think you had a little fun. I would hope when I visit you on your yacht someday, I will see one of my pictures onboard representing your senior year in the heartland and what is the essence of graduation 2020 and the crazy lady (me) in the park and you remember fondly.
