On the eve of mother’s day, I will write a little ode to one of two of my best mother’s day gifts. Will turns 15 today. 15? What the? Time is such a funny thief, sometimes I look at him and see the 3 year old obsessed with trains, balls and snakes–pushing his little glasses up his nose. And I have to blink and remember.
You’ve become such an interesting person, I love that you explore and the depths of your interests. You retain the information so well, like your father, you could be a trivia champ. But like your mother you also like to go see and do and experience things. You appreciate history and all the eras that went before but don’t get political or haughty about it. I love that you like going for drives (to nowhere), that you can trace back all our relatives till we are almost related to everyone, shooting baskets in the backyard, and learning the guitar all by yourself. I love that you like vinyl records, graveyards, and small Kansas towns. I won’t go into how you almost killed me at birth or how I wish you would come to the store with me or do your chores when ASKED–I will keep this positive ; ) I won’t keep going as I’m sure you already are uncomfortable but hey this is my blog and I’m your mom.
I’m so proud of you. I can’t wait to see what the next 15 bring, but I hope they slow down a bit… Hey–Do you know that song that goes “doo doo doo do doo doo dodo doo do doo dooo?
