Fall in Love: Mike & Tom KC wedding celebration

So I’ve spent a lot of time trying to make business be my business and set aside personal for personal, and while I do think its good to have some sense of privacy I am beginning to realize that they are not one and the other, most of the time my business is completely and utterly personal and my personal life is pretty much my business. I don’t know why I thought they had to be so separate for so long, makes me think I’m not too bright. But really in what I do it is so personal, human interaction and friendship is integral to making my clients/friends comfortable. I think I feel bad writing on here all the time about my friends, but why? You hired me, I’m your friend.

Which brings me to these two. I’ve known Mike since we were wee babes, and some of the stories I don’t think either Mike or I would want to share here, incriminating. But we got right back to old days once he contacted me about shooting for the Northeast Johnson County Chamber. I’m not a very good marketer but I’ll tell you this organization is in it for the right reasons, and for small businesses. My experience with Chambers in the past is that they are catering to corporations and big business (probably rightly so) but it always felt like I didn’t have a lot in common with that. Mike, and all the people behind NEJC Chamber are warm and informational and don’t feel like we are at a roundtable of execs. It is more about relationships, exactly how I want to run my business (see above). And, like I’ve said before I’ve never been good about networking business to business or going out there and this feels good, because I’m making connections and learning about all kinds of different business which is in my mind better then working exclusively with photographers (even though I could get better at that).

So if you follow me on Facebook you may have seen some of these. Mike as you will see from the photographs is like a relative he always welcomed me (I mean every time) with a hug and you can see his family is the same. And now I’ve met his love Tom and their friends and they couldn’t be more fun or more genuine. They had a small party at Posh Party Event Space celebrating their surprise wedding which was earlier in the year on the beach-I had to just put some of the most candid fun photos up ever.

This month of Valentine’s Day and everyday: ¬†ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE.

Every wedding should include a blue birdhugs
Mike and Tom–big hugs!
